Engineering has come a long way since the days of Archimedes, Leonardo
da Vinci and Sir Isaac Newton. From the design of the aqueduct by the
ancient Roman engineers to the invention of steam engine by James Watt
and light bulb by Thomas Edison, the fields of engineering indeed have
played vital roles in the development of our modern society.
The question lies today what engineers can contribute to the society
tomorrow? The International Conference on Recent and Emerging Advanced
Technologies in Engineering 2009 (iCREATE 2009) provides excellent
platform for scientist, engineers, researchers and practitioners around
the world to discuss and share their knowledge and technical knowhow in
the fields of engineering and technology.
Furthermore, taking into consideration the convergence of different
technologies today and the integration of various facets of engineering,
the trend of the muliti-disciplinary approach has been widely accepted
by engineering practitioners today. The multi-disciplinary nature of
this conference would provide further opportunities for engineers to
discuss on the utilization of different fields of engineering to solve
