| PUBLIC LECTURE BY Professor Dato’ Dr Sheikh Omar

 

Professor Dato’ Dr Sheikh Omar has spent the last 32 years in teaching and research at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). He retired in 2001 as a professor and dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and now serves as a contract professor.

Prof Dato’ Dr Sheikh Omar received his formal training in veterinary science and pathology in the University of Queensland, Australia and the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. He was admitted to the membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, London in 1977. His research interest is in the pathogenesis of animal diseases, immuno-contraception in rats and adverse effects of haze on health. He has more than 240 publications. As a scientist, he received the highest recognition in the country when he was made Fellow of Malaysian Scientific Association (FMSA) in 1999 and Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (FASc) in 2000.

Prof Dato’ Dr Sheikh Omar has spoken at numerous public and private corporations throughout Malaysia conducting training sessions or facilitating meetings
