PROFILE -- HISTORY
INTI Universal Holdings Berhad was incorporated as a private limited company on 11
June 1993 to facilitate the listing of the INTI Group of Colleges. Its
principal activity is investment holding.
In support of the core business of the Group of providing quality higher
education, the Group also operates book stores and convenience stores; provides
publication services, corporate training, seminars, counseling services, IT
related software solutions, network equipment and integration of computers; and
manages hostel accommodation for students, via its subsidiary companies.
The Company subsequently obtained public limited status on 6 July 1995 and was
listed on the Second Board of Bursa Malaysia (formerly known as Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange)
on 27 June 1996. In a short
span of four years, the Company was transferred to the Main Board of Bursa
Malaysia on 9 October 2000.
The INTI Group of Colleges has spread its wings internationally with operations in
Thailand, Indonesia, and China (Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai). This is in
addition to its eight local colleges situated in Subang Jaya, Petaling Jaya, Nilai,
Penang, Pahang, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.
On the local front, the INTI Group continues to advance into areas of market
demand such as hospitality, tourism, leisure, multimedia design, biotechnology
and mobile telecommunications. The latest associate local campuses of the Group
are Metropolitan College, PJ College of Art & Design and Kolej Antarabangsa
Genting (to be re-named Genting INTI International College).
Apart from the many prestigious awards and recognition received by its colleges, INTI
Universal Holdings Berhad has also been recognized as a public-listed Company in
Malaysia that has produced exemplary value for its shareholders and bagged the
KPMG Shareholder Value Awards 2002 (Infrastructure Category).
Although INTI has grown in leaps and bounds since its humble beginnings in 1986, its
colleges continue to hold true to their mission of providing holistic and
quality education. This is evidenced by the availability of a wide variety of
activities and programmes, among them the Student Industrial
Attachment/Graduate Internship Programme (SIAGIP) for students and graduates,
Mentor-Mentee programmes, and the annual College Day that contributes to needy
organizations and homes via charity drives.
